For this essay, we were asked to reflect on our experiences throughout the writing process. This involved answering a series of thought-provoking questions, such as what the essay reveals about us as learners, the feedback and observations shared by our classmates, and whether we had prior experience with this type of writing. These reflections aimed to deepen our understanding of our own writing journey and growth. Below, I’ve included my reflections on my exploratory essay, which focuses on the issue of gun violence.
My topic was gun violence. I knew a good amount on this subject as it is a world problem and many situations where gun violence was shown on the new and social media. knew that school shootings were happening and shootings in my borough were happening, etc. I was well informed because of this. When working on this essay with my partner we encountered communication problems and how we would list our key points or what our key points would even be about. This made the essay very stressful but we quickly solved them as we both gave solutions and how we can move forward. We communicated better with the topics and what our roles would be in the essay altogether. I’d say this piece reveals how I can open myself to new perspectives. I am a fast learner especially when it is a group assignment because the other person expects me to do my part. This reason is why I would prefer to be solo since I wouldn’t feel under pressure since only I am expecting myself to get the assignment done. The work progress was similar to other people. During the peer review I was that they did an for and not for layout which is how me and my partner did it for our topic of gun violence. This essay made me think about things I would change such as using my time effectively. I would give myself more time to really do the best I can. Overall this experience was a good one and helped me engage with my peers.
